- Vivid golden-honey surfaces with a pronounced cameo contrast between satiny devices and mirrored fields. Boldly struck, expertly preserved, and a delight to behold, only the strongest bids will be competitive for this gorgeous Gem example. The Philadelphia Mint's Centennial year gold dollar issue has a limited mintage of 3,200 circulation strikes. Unlike most later date low mintage issues in this series, the 1876 was not widely saved by contemporary numismatists, survivors scarce to rare in all grades. This is a particularly desirable example in the PCGS PL category that is sure to please even the most discerning gold enthusiast.
