“1789” Mott Token. Breen-1020. Thick Planchet, Plain edge. AU-55 (PCGS). 162.3 grains. Deep olive and iridescent gold with exceptionally well defined devices for the type. Nearly all the numerals on the clock face are defined, and the legends on both sides are complete. Small cud at the upper left corner of the clock case, a middle die state. Some very subtle hairlines can be found in the right light. A very bold example of this popular New York token. Provenance: From the Archangel Collection.
