Lot Description
1901 Liberty Quarter Eagle. Proof-64 (PCGS). CAC. OGH.
An impressive cameo proof though the contrast is not noted on the PCGS holder -- the old green label probably predates the use of the CAM designation by PCGS. Deep orange-gold with heavily frosted motifs and deeply reflective fields. A pleasing specimen that could just as easily be given a finer grade in our estimation. One of 223 proofs of the date produced, a figure that allows today's collectors an opportunity to obtain a proof of the design type without much difficulty. Choice across the board.
Interestingly, and proportionately, there are not many old-style PCGS and NGC holders around any more, as many have been "cracked out" and resubmitted, often gaining significantly higher grades for the coins in the process.
