1861 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-55 (PCGS). A lovely medium gold example with sharp to full striking and appreciable mint luster remaining. The Philadelphia Mint produced a mere 5,959 three-dollar gold pieces on the eve of the Civil War, with just a tiny percentage of those available to today's collectors. PCGS# 7982. NGC ID: 25MG.
