1796 Washington REPUB. AMERI Piece. Baker-68. Rarity-5. Bronze. Plain Edge. AU-50 (PCGS). 302.6 grains. Deep chocolate-brown verging on olive-brown throughout. Lightly and evenly worn with a few scattered ticks available to the unassisted eye, but with no serious marks or blemishes present, even under low magnification. On the reverse scroll REPUB is somewhat weak, this being the highest point of the reverse design, but AMERI below is bold. Yet another British Conder token -- Middlesex, D&H-245 -- "adopted" by American collectors owing to its subject matter. A notably scarce issue that seldom comes our way, but one that always meets with strong bidder support on those occasions when an example is offered to the collecting community.
