- Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P. Frosty and sharply struck, this engaging near-Mint example exhibits halos of orange-gold peripheral iridescence around brilliant centers. It is a conditionally scarce survivor of an otherwise readily obtainable Browning number that would be ranked CC#5 and tied for CC#6 were it included in the 2008 Tompkins and 2010 Rea et al. census listings, respectively.
The obverse of the 1835 Browning-6 is unique to this pairing, while the reverse is shared with the 1835 B-4 and 1835 B-5 varieties. The offered coin represents the earliest, prime state of the 1835 B-6 attribution with no cracks on either side.
Steve M. Tompkins Commentary: A perfect EDS coin to go with my LDS plate coin offered below. Twelve years elapsed between my purchases of these two B-6 examples to represent the earliest and the latest die stages of the variety.
