- 1786 Vermont Copper. Landscape. RR-7, Bressett 5-E, W-2025. Rarity-4. VERMONTENSIUM. AU-53 (PCGS). 116.8 grains. An especially choice, fully struck example of the iconic Vermont Landscape copper. Choice medium chocolate brown surfaces show golden and olive color around periphery legends, where the original mint color was last to fade. The centering and strike is ideal on both sides, placing this in the top 5% of the issue based on this metric alone. Some trivial planchet flecks are present in the obverse foreground, where a weakened die (manifested on the coin as a bulge) did not present enough pressure to strike out this natural texture, and a minor planchet striation is seen on the left side of the reverse. There are only tiny marks, including an insignificant rim nick over S of RES. A simply beautiful example that offers everything a choosy collector would look for in a Vermont landscape.
