This border-line SUPERB DPL 1885 dollar has a lot going for it. Tied for second highest graded in the designation, this is a beautiful coin with bold, deep mirrors that possess a depth of clarity and a brilliant reflective luster. The reverse has wild colors, a beautiful array of azure, violet, gold, orange, and magenta hues that we rate a 9++ on our 10-point color scale. There is a small rim mark at 3:00 that we note for full disclosure that has very little impact on the extraordinary eye appeal and is possibly as struck (?). PCGS 128, NGC 65, CAC 33. There are 8 in MS66+ DPL at NGC and just seven finer. One sold in August 2019 for $3,724 and another in December 2019 for $3,373--neither had the outstanding toning that this beauty has.
