- 1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-4a. Rarity-3. Manley Die State 1.0. Normal Head. Small Edge Letters. EF-40 (PCGS). Glossy deep chestnut-brown surfaces appear smooth to the unaided eye, with only some lightly scattered ticks and a few faint old scratches the reward for magnified examination. The devices are bold for the grade with just a touch of wear on the high points. An absolutely choice example of the date and grade combination, and a coin that would make an excellent addition to type set or half cent cabinet. Probably designed by Joseph Wright with dies executed by Robert Scot, the present head style is one of the most pleasing of all early Mint issues and makes a suitable artistic tribute to Liberty.
