1873 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-66 Ultra Cameo (NGC). Exceptional quality for the numismatist who appreciates a very early strike and bold contrast. 1873 is the final year of issue for silver three-cent coinage, and these were struck only in Proof format to the tune of 600 pieces. Delicate golden-russet toning graces the fields while the devices are bright white and frosty. Considerable contrast for this date, in fact NGC has graded a mere 4 examples with an Ultra Cameo designation, this being the second best seen by that service. A key date and one of the finest known, a perfect combination for the specialist.
