Satiny Gem Liberty Head Eagle. An appealing blend of medium orange gold color and smooth satiny surfaces is a pleasure to behold. Needle sharp strike completes the coin’s total originality. Readily obtainable in the lower mint state grades, but definitely rare in MS65 or better, much more so than the more common 1901-S. PCGS 117, NGC 140, CAC 17. Includes 4 PCGS MS65+. Only 17 have been graded higher at PCGS. The most recent auction record for a CAC approved coin was $4,700 in January 2014 (NGC-graded). No PCGS CAC coins have sold in this grade.
