Lot Description
1854 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-65 (NGC). A condition rarity that will entice any type or date specialist who can appreciate quality. Notice the exceptional luster and satin smooth surfaces when examined--all bathed in a perfectly satisfying golden-yellow hue that flashes with green iridescence. While color and luster are always desirable the primary and most important feature here is the exceptional Gem quality of the surfaces. Study the surfaces with a loupe and scarcely any signs of contact will be found--extraordinary quality in abundance. Of the 136,618 pieces struck the present example is one of the top 15 seen by NGC, and a condition rarity that is highly desirable. An elegant and impressive coin for the type or date collector who simply must own a Gem and further desirable as the first year of issue of this denomination.
