Ex Simpson, as noted on the insert. It is very interesting to compare mintage figures and high grade rarity among different coins in a series. The 1866 offered above has a similar Population in this grade despite the low mintage, where as the 1869 offered here had a mintage of 256,000 or 32x that of the 1866. Like the above offered 1866, this is a vividly toned GEM with a bold semi-reflective brilliance that is a delight to behold. Well struck, frosted devices stand out against the watery texture of the fields. The eye appeal is superb. PCGS 6, NGC 2, CAC 3. These do not appear with any frequency. The most recent PCGS MS66 CAC sold in September 2010. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $6,000. There are just four finer at PCGS, all MS67.
