Lot Description

Breen Die State III. Deep reddish-brown and warmer olive-copper patina blankets both sides of this visually appealing example. Well struck and only lightly circulated, although the die state is advanced with many of the finer details burry or soft. There is some ancient surface build up around many of the design elements, more extensively on the reverse, and scattered marks include a trio of tiny digs on Liberty's cheek. Glossy and generally smooth during in-hand viewing, this is a nice Sheldon-242 that is also a candidate for inclusion in a circulated type set to represent the Draped Bust cent.
