Lot Description: This is a stunning GEM example of this popular New Orleans mint Type 1 gold dollar. Vibrantly lustrous surfaces gleam boldly with a frosty, satin like brilliance. Both sides are indeed crisply struck up with very little weakness seen anywhere. The surfaces are clean and free of any marks, lines, or discolorations. The color is gorgeous, a warm medium yellow-gold. We have not been able to stop admiring the sensational eye appeal of this GEM. To look at it is to really appreciate its high end quality. PCGS 26, NGC 17, CAC 8. PCGS has graded 4 in MS65+ with just four finer. The ONLY PCGS MS65+ to ever sell sold in February 2016--that was over six years ago.
