Lot Description

1855 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-64 (PCGS). A richly toned and well preserved example of this scarce Proof issue. PCGS estimates that there are 50 surviving specimens, but auction records demonstrate that representatives of this issue appear very infrequently. Iridescent shades of lavender, electric-blue, and rose-brown grace the distraction-free surfaces, and the design motifs are crisply delineated on both sides.
