Lot Description
Manley Die State 1.0. Exquisite premium Gem surfaces retain plenty of vivid mint color in warm rose-red. Lightly and attractively toned, as well, we note blushes of iridescent steel-brown that are more pronounced on the obverse. Frosty surfaces are expertly preserved and show neither detracting carbon nor grade limiting marks. Fully struck with eye appeal to spare. Likely from the Elmer Sears hoard discovered circa 1935, which included numerous Mint State 1835 C-1 half cents, many with considerable mint red color remaining. If so, this is certainly one of the finest examples from that group, and it is a coin that will please even the most discerning type collector or early copper enthusiast.
