As well preserved and visually pleasing as any example of this conditionally challenging design type available to today's discerning numismatists. Wisps of champagne-pink iridescence visit the otherwise antique silver surfaces. Luster is full with a satin to softly frosted texture, and the appearance is expectably smooth for the assigned grade. Half dollars of this type commemorate the 100th anniversary of Alabama's admission into the Union, which actually happened two years earlier. Survivors of both the Plain and 2x2 varieties are scarce in MS-66 and exceedingly rare in Superb Gem MS-67. Truly a lovely coin, and worthy of inclusion in the finest collection of classic commemoratives.
