1877 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. Proof-64 (NGC). Sharp frosty devices with satiny, slightly reflective fields typical of examples of this date. Essentially brilliant with a very thin layer of natural patina overall. Popular Proof-only issue with just 900 coins reportedly struck, although the actual mintage may be on the order of 1,200 to 1,500 pieces. Provenance: From the Michael Mann Type Collection.
