Lot Description

1772 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 24-72C, W-7740. Rarity-6. GEORGIVS III. Good-6 (for issue). 103.4 grains. Dark golden-brown surfaces uniformly microporous throughout. Obverse well-worn, almost to a smooth state, faint scratches seen, reverse details all present though evenly and well-worn, planchet flaw at rim at 4 o'clock, else no other marks of note. A rare variety that was unlisted by Vlack and not published until 1985. PCGS# 451. Provenance: Paper envelope with pedigree and attribution notes included.
