- 1856-S Three-Dollar Gold Piece. VF-35 (PCGS). This evenly worn honey-gold specimen exhibits varied orange-gold highlights. Not a heavily marked piece despite its lengthy stay in circulation. The second of just five dates in the denomination struck in our westernmost mint, with the final date of the five, the 1870-S, a unique coin that is currently on display at the American Numismatic Association's headquarters in Colorado Springs. A neat coin for a mid-range type set.
