Lot Description

Very tough Civil War era gold piece struck at the San Francisco mint and recovered from the legendary Brother Jonathan shipwreck. A select example with warm honey-golden surfaces that are delightfully smooth and offer incredible eye appeal. Most examples are somewhat tan/brown toned and relatively unattractive - a result of the preservation fluids used after recovery. This example however, is absolutely choice.
