- The soft honey-gold surfaces of this Choice AU eagle are richly toned with varied orange-gold highlights. The strike is strong though the devices have been softened some by circulation. Other than some tiny ticks, no marks of any significant measure are seen. One of just 14,000 eagles produced in the last year of Carson City Mint coinage operations. Regarding this terminal Carson City date, the Winter reference notes: "This is a very hard coin to find with good eye appeal. Most 1893-CC eagles are well-worn, heavily abraded, and have been cleaned. Those few with good eye appeal are much coveted by specialists." The present specimen, modestly circulated though it is, is still a wholly presentable and above-average example of the date. Worthy of strong bidder support.
