Lot Description
THE PERFECTION COLLECTION OF CAPPED BUST QUARTERS Only a single die pair struck all 366,000 Capped Bust quarters in this final year of the series. This is one of the FINEST KNOWN examples in Mint State, ranking just below two at PCGS in MS66 (there are also a couple of SUPERB GEM Proof examples from this die pair). This remarkably well preserved GEM displays a sensational brilliant luster that radiates boldly throughout. Splashes of slate gray, teal-blue, amber-rose, coppery-gold, and pewter-silver. The brilliance highlights the varied hues bringing out all subtle traces. Generally well struck from clashed dies, you can see the vertical bars from the shield at Liberty's ear. The eye appeal is wonderful with a truly unique and high end visual allure. PCGS 6, NGC 2, CAC 4. This is the SOLE MS65+ at either service, and PCGS has graded just two finer. Nothing higher than MS65 has ever sold in auction in a PCGS holder; a PCGS MS65 CAC sold for $28,800 in January 2023. The current PCGS Price Guide value in MS65+ is $35,000 but we anticipate this coin will sell for much more. A superb coin for anyone looking for an example for type or date purposes. When will an MS66 come up for sale?--who knows! Do not let this one get away. Cert. Number 19368992 PCGS # 5357
