- Lot Description
- A hard, frosty example with dominant rose-brown patina, yet plenty of original pinkish-orange mint color remaining to light up the protected areas around many of the devices as the surfaces rotate under a light. This coin is sharply struck and nicely composed for the assigned grade. It is a strong candidate for inclusion in a high grade colonial era type to represent the Virginia halfpenny. Evidence of advanced die rust is seen on the obverse, reverse with a tiny planchet void (as made) on the crossbar at right.
