Lot Description

Warm pewter and rose-gray patina with bold outline detail for this challenging Liberty Seated dime issue. This is a rare die state of the Fortin 102 variety, presenting strong clash marks above the letter E in DIME and to the left of the oak leaves in the lower right portion of the wreath, which features are discernible here with patience despite overall moderate wear that justifies the VF grade from PCGS. One of just 8,000 circulation strike dimes produced in 1866 at the Philadelphia Mint.
