Lot Description

A richly colored example featuring bold shades of deep honey-orange and, at the peripheries, rose-gold. Striking detail is pleasingly sharp by Dahlonega Mint standards, the wear light and largely confined to the high points. A touch of glossiness to the texture and wispy handling marks are noted for accuracy. The 1842-D Small Date, Small Letters is a conditionally challenging half eagle with most survivors well worn, if not also impaired. This EF example offers above average circulated quality for the issue and plenty of eye appeal.
