"1783" (ca. 1820) Military Bust Copper. Musante GW-109, Baker-4, Vlack 4-D, W-10180. Rarity-5 (for the die marriage). Large Military Bust. AU-55 BN (NGC). This boldly patinated example displays mottled reddish-brown, pale orange and steel-gray, the last color associated with light surface scale in isolated peripheral areas. Both sides are sharply struck with a satiny texture that is overall smooth. This piece represents a scarce die marriage of an otherwise readily available Military Bust copper type that is sure to appeal to variety specialists. Provenance: Ex Winslet Collection. PCGS# 667.
