1857 Liberty Seated Half Dime. Proof-65 (PCGS). CAC. Secure Holder. Rare in any grade, especially so at the Gem or finer level for this early Proof striking. Toned with an elegant array of golden-russet with speckled blue and green tints spanning both sides. Watery mirror fields are evident when examined and that devices show the expected frosty contrast. Mintage was probably in the 100 coin range with perhaps 50 to 75 known today, this one of the finest seen of that modest number. PCGS Population: 2; 3 finer (PR-66 finest) within designation.
