1855 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. Lustrous pinkish-honey surfaces are sharply to fully defined over virtually all design elements. Scarcer than the Philadelphia Mint quarter eagle issues of 1851 to 1854, the 1855 is one of the more underrated circulation strikes from its decade. Most survivors from a mintage of 235,480 coins are in lower grades than offered here, the present example sure to see spirited bidding among astute gold enthusiasts.
