Lot Description

Manley Die State 3.0. Glossy surfaces are rough in areas due to die state, peripheries likewise softly struck with little to no border denticulation, letters in legend on the reverse faint at tops. The central design elements are boldly to sharply defined, however, and there are few marks from what was obviously a short stint in active circulation. Color on both sides is a rich blend of deep golden-brown and steel-olive. Although this is a plentiful issue in an absolute sense, Mint State survivors are surprisingly elusive with Bill Eckberg (2019) accounting for only 20 at that level. This lovely Choice AU, therefore, represents a significant find for quality conscious half cent enthusiasts.
