Lot Description
1876 Twenty-Cent Piece. Proof-65 (PCGS). A richly original, boldly toned example that is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a high grade specimen type set. At 1,500 pieces produced, the 1876 boasts the highest mintage in the Proof twenty-cent series of 1875 to 1878. The Mint undoubtedly stepped up production of Proof coinage this year in anticipation of strong sales in connection with the United States' centennial. While survivors of this issue are plentiful by the standards of the type, few have been as well preserved as this handsome Gem. PCGS Population: 27; 19 finer in this category (Proof-66+ finest). PCGS# 5304. NGC ID: 27H3. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
