Losbeschreibung: 1960-D Franklin Half Dollar. MS-66 FBL (NGC). Writing in the 2018 edition of A Guide Book of Franklin & Kennedy Half Dollars, Rick Tomaska's evaluation of the 1960-D in the finest Mint State grades is particularly relevant: "Even rarer in MS-66 and MS-66 FBL than the 1960-P [sic], few 1960-D Franklin halves have survived with the necessary bold strikes and minimally marked surfaces to earn the MS-66 grade. The majority of examples grading MS-66 are toned. The 1960-D is extremely rare in fully brilliant MS-66 and MS-66 FBL. I have handled but one such example since the inception of PCGS and NGC." With fully brilliant, silver white surfaces and razor sharp striking detail, this is a significant MS-66 FBL 1960-D half dollar. NGC Census: 3; 2 finer in this category (MS-67 FBL finest).
