- 1852-C Liberty Quarter Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (14-I), the only known dies. MS-60 (NGC). From a paltry mintage of just 9,772 pieces comes this absolute and condition rarity 1852-C Quarter Eagle. Far finer than the typically offered VF or EF survivor, this piece is strictly BU in quality with no significant rub to generally bold-looking features. Only on the reverse do we see mentionable softness of strike, and it is largely confined to the highpoints around the shield. Bright yellow-gold color throughout, with light scuffiness to the surfaces that does not inhibit the vibrancy of a satin-to-semi-prooflike sheen. The 1852-C ranks seventh of 20 Charlotte Mint Quarter Eagle deliveries in terms of both overall and high-grade rarity.
