Lot Description
1806 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-1. Rarity-4. Pointed Top 6, Stars 8x5. MS-63 (NGC). A condition rarity this well preserved and undoubtedly one of the finest known of the variety and the pointed six type. The surfaces boast creamy gold luster in the fields while the devices show mint frost. Rather sharply struck too, with good definition on Liberty's curls and the eagle too, areas that are often poorly defined by the dies. Clean in terms of handling, as the fields, rims and devices have minor handling nicks and hairlines, and no adjustment marks to distract the eye. The pointed 6 varieties are much scarcer than the knobbed 6 style of this year, especially so in mint condition.
