“1789” Mott Token. Breen-1022. Thick Planchet, Plain Edge. MS-62 (PCGS). 218.8 grains. Middle to late die state. Very nicely struck on an especially hefty planchet. Smooth and glossy light brown with some residual lighter color around devices that suggest an old cleaning that is not troublesome at all. Well centered and very nicely struck. The die state is early enough that the die fatigue that obliterates much of the detail is not yet present, though the break at the upper left corner of the clock is beginning to emerge into the field.
