- Bert Davies Collection. Newcomb-3 is the famous restrike that paired an 1823 obverse with an 1813 reverse to create a "mule", popular with collectors and incorporated into most coronet-head tabulations. The always-present obverse die-crack did not prevent the flan from picking up a pretty nice strike from the dies, and neither side displays any noticeable contact marks. Glossy and attractive.
