1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 1-D, W-6190. Rarity-3-. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. AU-53 (PCGS). A particularly well struck example of the type, both sides exhibit razor sharp to full detail with just a touch of softness to the highest points. Mottled faded rose undertones that are more prevalent on the reverse suggest an old cleaning, the surfaces retoned in warm olive-charcoal. Microscopic pitting on the reverse is in the planchet, as are a few minor fissures on the obverse. Overall smooth in hand with a generally hard, satiny texture, freedom from significant marks further enhances this coin's appeal. PCGS# 311. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
