1848-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-101, Die Pair WB-5. Rarity-3. MS-62 (NGC). This is the third and final use of this obverse die in production of 1848-O half dollars, the right field with scattered die rust lumps, the foot support effaced through die polishing/abrasion and a prominent die crack from the denticles in the same area. Satiny and vibrant in the luster category, both sides are dusted with mottled toning in a charming champagne pink iridescence. Sharply defined in the context of the aforementioned late die state, and conditionally scarce for this otherwise relatively obtainable pre-Civil War New Orleans Mint issue.
