1820 Matron Head Cent. N-4. Rarity-4. Small Date. AU-50 (PCGS). Deep olive and chocolate-brown with accents of steel. Glossy and pleasing with a few marks that mostly require magnification. A subtle old spot, long inactive, may be seen at the E of STATES and serves as a good identifier. Evenly struck. A scarce variety in high grade with only a single Mint State coin listed in the Noyes Census. Noyes photo #36698. Provenance: From the John McBride Collection. Earlier ex D.
