1896-O Barber Quarter. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC. A rare coin at the gem grade level and the present coin has excellent luster, a good strike and clean surfaces. The dentils always are a trifle soft on these, but the balance of the devices are sharper than usual with just minor softness on the eagle's claws. Examination finds a few tiny ticks on Liberty' s face and neck, keeping the gem level with ease. With a mintage of 1,484,000 pieces there simply are not many gems that survived, in fact PCGS has graded just less than a dozen at this level or finer. Such a condition rarity is a prize for the specialist to obtain.
