- 1894-O Barber Quarter. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC. An exceptional representative of this conditionally challenging New Orleans Mint issue, we start first and foremost with the level of surface preservation. It is nothing short of Gem in quality, both sides retaining full satin to softly frosted luster in the absence of detracting abrasions. Moving on to the strike, we find that it is superior for the issue. Both sides are sharply defined in all areas, to include the hair curls over Liberty's forehead on the obverse as well as the eagle's right (facing) talon on the reverse. Finally, we see simply gorgeous toning in dominant blue-gray (obverse) and silver-apricot (reverse) colors that speak volumes about the coin's originality. Very scarce even in lower Mint State grades, this heavily circulated issue is nothing short of rare as a Gem.
