- 1798 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. Heraldic Eagle. BB-108, B-13. Rarity-3. Pointed 9, 10 Arrows. Fine-15 (PCGS).
Attractive dove-gray toning with lighter high points. There is a bit of steel-blue iridescence in the fields and traces of frosty luster through some of the reverse legends. Well composed with minimal marks and a pleasing overall appearance. The reverse die has been relapped to remove the "headless stick" seen in BB-107, resulting in just 10 complete arrows in the eagle's arsenal. The remaining motifs are nicely defined. One of the more common varieties of the year, the BB-108 is an interesting pairing in that it was struck both before and directly after BB-109, suggesting that something catastrophic retired the reverse die of that variety.
