Lot Description

A PQ GEM example of this obsolete denomination and type. This is truly a special example! The surfaces are satin smooth with a vivid mint brilliance. A soft, champagne-gold and a dappled bluish tone is dusted around the periphery. The devices are generally well struck up, with just some minor traces of weakness in areas. Better than most seen. A strong glass fails to reveal any serious marks, lines or discoloration anywhere and the lustrous brilliance really gives this one a great look! PCGS 60, NGC 53. The most recent example sold in August 2021 for $5,520 and the current Collectors Universe value is $7,250. RARE finer, especially at NGC, where only a dozen have graded higher, and anything finer will likely bring five figures. Cert. Number 6505312005 PCGS # 5298
