1936 Boone Bicentennial. MS-67+ (PCGS). Crescents of intense steel-lilac, reddish-rose and golden-olive peripheral toning frame otherwise silver-tinged surfaces. Minted for five years, the Boone half dollar saw production 1934 to 1938. Designed by Augustus Lukeman, the obverse bears the portrait of Daniel Boone, while the reverse shows Boone with a depiction of Chief Black Fish. The Philadelphia Mint's 1936-dated issue is a rare find in certified grades above the basal MS-67 level, this upper end Superb Gem our finest offering for the date in recent decades.
