1866 Liberty Seated Half Dime. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS). Rich reddish-bronze and olive-gray obverse toning contrasts with steel-blue and deep mauve colors on the reverse. A cabinet-toned beauty that is also noteworthy for its fullness of strike and appreciably cameoed finish. Survivors of this 725-piece Proof issue have long enjoyed heightened demand with collectors due to the low mintage, key date status of the Philadelphia Mint's 1866 circulation strike half dime (just 10,000 coins struck). Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911. PCGS Population: 13; 12 finer in this category (Proof-67 Cameo finest).
