- Lot Description
- Boldly toned surfaces are dressed in a blend or rich pewter and steel-olive with underlying golden-apricot iridescence. Well struck with soft mint luster. This is a desirable Choice Mint State example of the second design type for the Liberty Seated dime, with stars at the left and right of the obverse, to each side of the portrait. The Fortin-103 attribution refers to the eagerly sought Chin Whiskers variety of the issue, with prominent obverse die lines from Liberty's chin to her shoulder. On the seateddimevarieties.com website Gerry Fortin suggests a 20-30% premium for examples of this variety.
