Losbeschreibung
1852-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Winter-1, the only known dies. AU-55 (PCGS). Plenty of satin to softly frosted luster remains on both sides of this original and handsome golden-olive example. Sharply defined apart from softness in the centers, a typical pattern of strike for this issue. The 1852-C inaugurates a run of low mintage issues that would continue through the end of the Charlotte Mint quarter eagle series in 1860. Only 9,772 coins were produced, the 1852-C ranking among the top 10 rarest in this challenging Southern gold series. A superior quality example for both the issue and the assigned grade, there is much to recommend this coin to the discerning gold collector. Provenance: From the Maurice Snow Collection. PCGS Population: 18; 15 finer, just eight of which are Mint State (MS-64 finest). PCGS# 7764. NGC ID: 25HS. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
