- 1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Newman 11-D, W-Unlisted. 7 Harp Strings, No Period After GEORGIVS. AU-50 (PCGS). 115.0 grains. Deep golden-tan with chestnut-brown highlights. A spot of dark scale is seen at the R in REX, and some old faint scratches and marks are seen under low magnification. This die combination is unlisted in the Bowers <em>Encyclopedia. </em>No doubt a <strong><em>Condition Census </em></strong>example of a rare and desirable variety, this in spite of the surface blemishes.
