- 1895-O Barber Dime. AU-55 (NGC). Here is a rare item in high grade, as study has proven the 1895-O to be one of the key dates to this series. Mintage came in at 440,000 pieces, about the same as the 1909-S V.D.B. cent, but those were virtually all saved—the 1895-O dime was not. Perhaps 500-750 exist today, most in much lower grades. This coin has typical deep russet-gray toning with darker charcoal patches mixed into the fields and rims. Sharply struck throughout with a full LIBERTY on the headband and clear agricultural elements within the wreath. Clean surfaces as expected, especially so for a coin that barely circulated.
